In this 3-hour session, you’ll learn how to assemble stretcher bars, stretch the canvas, and apply primer.

Programme:

Join us for a hands-on canvas stretching workshop where you’ll use stretcher bars create your own 70cm x 50cm (3.8cm deep) stretched and primed canvas. In this 3-hour session, you’ll learn how to assemble stretcher bars, stretch the canvas, and apply primer.

Your tutor will also share insights on canvas types, weights, and priming techniques, along with tips for using acrylic and oil paints, mediums, and more. While this portion won’t be practical, it’s an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge and ask questions.

Tutor: Josie Jenkins

Josie Jenkins is a painter trained at Norwich School of Art, graduating in 2002. With extensive experience creating custom canvases in various scales, as well as working on different painting grounds, Josie brings a wealth of practical knowledge. Skilled in mediums such as oil, acrylic, and ink, she has developed her expertise over years of practice and has been sharing her skills through teaching since graduation.
